School Site Council
One of the most important ways you can contribute to your child's school is by becoming an active member of the School Site Council (SSC).
Each school in our district is required to have a School Site Council, a decision-making body that helps guide school policies, priorities, and funding. The council is made up of an equal number of school staff and parents or students, ensuring that the perspectives of both the educational team and the school community are represented.
As a parent, you have the opportunity to make a real impact on your child’s education by becoming part of the SSC. Members of the council are elected by their peers—this includes teachers, classified staff, students, and parents. The goal is to create a diverse group that reflects the entire school community.
Half of the parent and student representatives must be students themselves, ensuring their voice is central to the decision-making process. The rest of the council membership includes a balanced mix of school staff. Community members can also join in place of a parent if chosen by the parents of students attending the school, providing additional opportunities for involvement.
Your participation in the SSC allows you to have a direct say in key decisions, from school improvement plans to how state funding is spent to enhance your child’s education. It’s an opportunity to work alongside teachers and administrators, helping shape the future of the school and advocating for the needs of all students.
We strongly encourage you to get involved and help us build a better, stronger school community.
